Sharing is one reason why I paint. There was a day when I was just looking for ideas. I had an image in my mind, so I searched through old photos and I saw an elderly couple walking away from the camera. Immediately I wanted to share what I was feeling. The couple was reminiscent of my parents. Several years ago my Father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. I was struck each time I saw my Father how much he had changed. When I painted A Winters Walk I thought of my Father, mentally drifting away. A Winters Walk is a wish, a dream that loved ones can walk together through their twilight years.
Beach Boys was painted after a vacation in West Virginia. This was a trip that my husband's Father wanted to take with his children to visit extended family in Virginia Beach. We rented a beach house and explored the area. We visited historical sites and had a great time. I photographed my sons Derrick and Thomas watching the waves. After we came home I decided it would make a great painting. It is a great way to remember the fun we had.
